The Art Department and School of Education will celebrate the opening of the Art Lofts facility during the week of May 5-9, 2009. Formerly a university warehouse, the Art Lofts now houses the Art Department's glass lab, metal sculpture foundry, ceramics, graduate darkroom and digital facilities, and papermaking areas, along with studio spaces for more than 60 faculty and graduate students, and public spaces for the display of student and faculty artwork. S.V. Medaris' studio will have cards, prints, and finished work for sale. There will also be in-progress work on display, as well as the artist working on various pieces ranging from woodblock cutting/printing, oils, pastels, and a new 18ft. mural in progress.
